Listen Deeply
As a conflict management, mediation trainer teaching active listening skills, my colleagues and I defined communication as, “the EXCHANGE of information that leads to NEW UNDERSTANDINGS.”
When I stumbled across the YouTube video of this young Harvard class speaker’s address I was so impressed. He starts by invoking the presence of his unique family history, beginning with the set-up of a well known joke that starts with . . . a Christian, a Muslim, and a Jew walk into a bar. This young graduate’s clear, wise, and compelling voice gives me hope, and is a voice that needs to be heard far and wide. So enjoy!
